Well today I just upgraded to windows vista home premium from windows xp and the first thing i get from when vista started is a pop up saying "windows explorer has stopped working." It gives me two options of restarting or checking online for solution then restarting windows explorer. I have tried both outcomes multiple times. This would not be a big deal if i could go on and do my thing but it has not let me do anything(except mozzila firefox[somehow]) and it keeps popping up. I do not know what to do and i need help please and thank you.

Because you have installed a non-Microsoft product on your computer (Firefox). The Windows police will be arriving shortly to take you away and re-program you. "Zam"

I had a similar problem in a fresh install of Vista Ultimate- everytime I tried to do anything in the GUI (Explorer), I got an error, "Windows Explorer has stopped working"... looking for solutions, "Windows Explorer is restarting..." It seemed that there was no end in sight. Check the event viewer to see what is causing the error. Open the Task Manager (CNTRL ALT DEL, start Task Manager), then from the Task Manager program, select File-Run from the menu. Type MSCONFIG. You may have to try these steps several times as the crashing Explorer will probably get in the way. In my case, Explorer crashes mostly did not affect secondary apps (i.e. Task Manager and Msconfig). In Msconfig, select the Tools tab and select Event Viewer and click Launch. In Event Viewer, open up Applications to see what errors you are getting. If "C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer\***.db" is causing the problem, you need to delete the *.db file in that directory. But because Explorer is crashing, you obviously can't do this from a window. Go back to Task Manager and type, "runas /user:[username that has administrative rights] cmd" You will be asked for you password. Enter it. Now browse to the directory with the *.db files that are causing problems and delete them. They are temporary thumbnail caches. One or more are are probably corrupt. As soon as you delete these files, Vista should run just fine. -Brad "Zam" wrote:

yeah everything works until "If "C:\Users\[username]\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Explorer\***.db" is" because i dont know how got the root file or .db how it works but there something that shows up every time i look at the files containing the warnings for windows explorer which is "vwfps.dll_unloaded" does this mean anything important? Lol, you really are pathetic. You didn't have anything worthwhile to post to the OP and showed the same in this response. You proved what I said is true. Rock [MS-MVP User/Shell]

We may not have the same problem. Can you post your event viewer application error text? -Brad

And what exactly is the truth in your post about Firefox and the Windows Police? Nothing you said is true or makes sense, which shows also how pathetic you are....you can't even be a good troll. Rock [MS-MVP User/Shell]
