No problem here. I don't often use IE, but just checked (after installing the latest updates). Just a thought though - it _might_ be a problem on your "home page" rather than IE itself. Maybe IE now handles this differently, or maybe just coincidence that it happened at the same time as the updates. What do you have set as your homepage? The default Microsoft home page doesn't give me a problem. Maybe see if the problem is avoided by changing your home page, but don't forget to bookmark or make a note of your existing home page so you can set it back again later ;o)

Can you point out any specific update? I just approved all new updates and rolled them out to a handful of machines. No problems. No problem at home either.

The cumulative IE7 update from 5/8/2007 caused the same problem for me when installed in Windows XP. IE7 became totally dysfunctional. Under Vista KB931768 causes severe slowdowns in Windows Mail when using Windows Mail to work these discussion groups. That update wasn't available when I updated an hour ago. I have just installed it, but need to restart before it takes effect. I'll let you know if it has an effect for me when I get a chance to restart. tony wrote:

I've just installed the update in question (as well as all others available) and don't have a problem. This is on 32-bit Vista Business. Another thought - do you have any third-party toolbars installed in IE? eg. Google or Yahoo search bars etc. Just trying to think what might be different between those having problems and those not...

I installed the latest updates on Ultimate 32 bit and IE 7 launches, but now has started a pattern of stopping and resarting itself. Anyone out there have this happening as well?

Mark- You sure done have posted to a lot of groups. Why so many? Vista general would have been sufficient. You're complaining about updates for Vista and your perception they have something to do with a problem on your box simply because of a time conincidence not because of any substantive evidence). (Don't see your original threadthis is a phenom of the setup group the last month to split and threads and hide the OP's postwhy I don't knowhaven't seen that in years of using these groups) but Win Mail is the bastard step child of Redmond MSFTit's free and gets very little team attention or support. The MVPs have to beg constantly to get them to move their butts. That's cause Outlook is the MSFT cash cow with Office and the 27 Office related apps that make money. I installed the updates. They installed from MSFT Update. They went in, I rebooted and they don't slow down IE7 at all. Something amis is going on on your box(es). I'd run spyware and antiviral scans and sfc. You can also uninstall them and instlal them one by one if you like from binkk.nu or from the MSFT Technet Security site. You can get the security newsletter that often gives you the updates 2 weeks in advance. I can tell you the bell shaped curve of people aren't having your experience. I have Google and Windows Live search toolbars. CH "JSFL2"

The latest updates certainly seem to be causing some problems. Mine are fairly minor, but Windows Mail and IE 7 became seriously sluggish after installing the new updates (no error messages though). I have uninstalled KB 931768 for now and that has solved the sluggishness. I think MS need to be looking at this again. Simes

Ronnie, I had no issues with said update, possibly because I have the phishing filter disabled completely? That particular error seems to be generated by the phishing filter - see the article posted by 'dap'. Jane, not plain ;) 64 bit enabled :-) Batteries not included. Problem solved! I've solved this problem by restoring the temporary internet files folder the default folder. I changed the TIF folder for some reasons, but now I have to chage it back to solve this problem. The default folder in Vista should be like: C:\Users\%YOUR_USER_NAME%\AppData\Local\Microsoft\Windows\Temporary Internet Files In my case, I don't need to chage the phishing filter any more. Everything is working just fine! for detail see: windowshelp.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/en-us/default.mspx?dg=microsoft.public.internetexplorer.general&tid=2cba118d-6172-483e-85cd-616cea82cd63&cat=&lang=en&cr=US&sloc=en-us&m=1&p=1 "Jane C" wrote:
