Hi,
I have a Vista Ultimate 64-bit machine connected to my network. My LAN printer is an HP Color LaserJet 2600n. That LaserJet model uses host-based printing such that the exact printer driver is essential, and unfortunately, there's no Vista x64 support for that printer. What I would like to do is to use a print server running Windows XP that does have the correct LaserJet driver installed. But I still need some way for the Vista x64 machine to send jobs to the print server. Ideally, I want to be able to print to XPS print path on the remote print server and let it convert to the printer-specific format, using something like shared printer feature. Is this possible? Does such a service exist? (generic remote XPS to GDI conversion) Right now I manually do this by using the print to XPS feature in Vista and opening the XPS file in the Windows XP machine's Internet Explorer and printing from there, which works, but is extremely tedious. If there's any way to automate the printing of XPS files in Windows XP, that might be a reasonable workaround as well. Thanks, John |
