I am also have a problem with Windows mail sending emails in only one user account although the administrator account seems to work ok. I have called McAfee and have removed it to this point but as indicated by Gary the damage is done so I am assuming that even though McAfee is uninstalled it is still creating the problem of outgoing messages hanging up in Outbox and not sending. I tried to change as indicated and get message that one or more of messages in the outbox do not have a valid account specified and it asks if want (what is now) default account to send messages (although it still does not do so) Please advise if you have suggestions

If you can't delete those messages, and they are stuck in the outbox, you should try the latest edition of the WMUtil utility: oehelp.com/WMUtil/ When you download the file, be sure to choose Save rather than Run. After it finishes downloading choose Run, then Extract. Then it will show the extracted folder with two files in it. Run WMUtil.exe, and click Clear Outbox. It may take a while. Before you start, make sure Windows Mail is not running. Gary VanderMolen "Mcafee"

I can manually delete the messages from the outbox but the problem is that I can not send emails from that user meaning I can receive email but not send. That is the part I am trying to figure out how to fix is the part of being able to send from Windows Mail running Vista without having the messages stay stuck in the outgoing mail box. thanks "Gary VanderMolen" wrote:

After uninstalling McAfee, remove your mail account and then close and reopen WinMail and then add the mail account back again. See if that fixes it. You might also try the compact and repair buttons in WMUtil. steve "Mcafee"

I have an unsent message thta won't delete, and causes all others not to get sent. Unknown message I get. What does it take to get this gone? Typical Microsoft, they rush something out to market and it always sucks!!! "ldefrange" wrote:

It gets an MVP with developing capacities and a great amount of generosity, and luckily we have all that with Steve Cochran. Read about and download its WMUtil program here: oehelp.com/wmutil Saludos Roland Probleme mit OE? Hier gibt es die Lösungen: <oe-faq.de>! "Glück ist: zu begreifen, wie alles zusammenhängt." (S. Robert, I and several other people have had the same problem. Go to oehelp.com/wmutil and download Steve's utility (follow Steve's directions to save to your desktop). Then use the utility (after unzipping) to compact your e-mail and the problem will go away. Then, in the future, compact your e-mail every time the dialog box appears asking if you want to compact your e-mail. Good luck. Dick in sunny AZ "Robert"

Thanks Steve, you are brilliant!! After I created the new account and deleted the old one, I was able to move the emails I still wanted to send to my Inbox (just by dragging them there) and delete the ones I didn't care about sending any more. Then I closed Mail and re-opened it and sent the mails I had moved to my Inbox. It worked fine - hooray!! Thanks again for your help. Cheers! "Steve Cochran" wrote:

I tried this utility, but it just threw an error. Luckily deleting my email account and setting up a new one with the same credentials worked perfectly well - see Steve's advice above. Cheers! "Roland Bierlein" wrote:

If you have a message stuck in the Outbox, do the following: First, delete or move as many of those messages as you can. There will be one undeletable message. Download and run the WMUtil program: oehelp.com/WMUtil Be sure to read and follow the instructions on that download page. Gary VanderMolen "Karen"

When you say Wmutil didn't work, what did happen when you clicked clear outbox button? Are you sure you stopped the Winmail process via Taskmgr? Could you also clarify... "Yesterday I turned on my laptop an it sent messages today it is stuck again." Do you mean the message is in the out box?

I have done everything in these threads with no help. I downloaded the WMUtil and when I run it I get an "Unable to access database" error message (System DllNotFoundException:Unable to load DLL 'scxout.dll'The specified module could not be found. Not if you follow the instructions. "Unable to load DLL 'scxout.dll" indicates that you are executing Wmutil from a different location than where it's companion file scxout.dll resides... in other words you have ignored the very first instruction following "download here." It says... "Note: The zip file contains two files which must be saved to the same directory (one can use the Desktop.)" So... once again... There are two files in the zip file. You have to extract both of them to the same location. (You didn't extract the dll, but just the exe file.) Then run the program and see if it works.

I expect so, meanwhile I'll mark this for the attention of Steve Cochran, since I've never seen your error before.

Yes, sorry I did not metion that. I suspect that may be part of the problem. I have run into some other "issues" with the 64 bit Vista upgrade I did (my Epson 2450 scanner does not work because no 64 bit driver is out there yet, my Adobe Flashplayer is not 64 bit, things like that). I am sure once everyone has upgraded to 64 bit systems then there will be no issues. Bob "Julian" wrote:

I thought so. When I googled SystemBadImageFormatException all the pages found seemed to involve 64bit processors. I have informed the author of Wmutil and will repost when or if there is a solution. Meanwhile you should consider... get.live.com/en-us/betas/maildesktop_betas I use it and prefer it to WM. ps. There will ALWAYS be issues so long as software is written and used by humans.

Gary VanderMolen "Karen" Hi Steve, I've had the same problem with messages not sending from the Outbox. I've set up a new email account and the same problem persists. Any other solutions.

When you installed AVG, did you use the custom install option whereby you can decline installation of the email scanning module? If it was installed with the default email scanning option, uninstall, then reinstall as indicated. Gary VanderMolen "Karen"

This is a unique error message, and it could be a 64-bit issue. Some of the responses I found on Google suggest that one fix is to use Comcast's 'travel' settings: comcast.net/help/faq/index.jsp?faq=EmailOutlook_Express17717 Gary VanderMolen "Bob"

Other people have had it with Eudora and on Macs and in addition to what Gary said, ie. a Comcast thing, another suggestion was a problem something in a signature... have you got a weird signature attached? Anyway... here's one suggestion about the Comcast travel problem... To reconfigure Windows Mail for use when not on the Comcast network: Tools > Accounts > your email > Properties > General > ensure that the email address and Reply address are set to your Comcast.net email address On the Servers tab, click My Server Requires Authentication and then click Settings. Please note: Do NOT check the "Log On Using Secure Password Authentication" box. In the Outgoing Mail Server window, select Log On Using, enter your Comcast.net email address and password and click OK On the Advanced tab, click This Server Requires A Secure Connection (SSL) for both the incoming and outgoing servers Make sure the port is 465 in the Outgoing mail port number field and 995 in the Incoming mail port number field Click Apply Click OK
