I can add and delete files to my website (at home.nl) but can not upload or delete files at the 50 meg privé section of my 'home space' (or whatever home.nl calls it). I know I am not alone with this as there is a message posted by another user at one of their newsgroups re this. Is this a Vista problem per se? I had no problems uploading files when using Windows 98. Thoughts, suggestions? Thanks, DH

I should add this - I can not add files to the private section at that ftp site and receive a message from Windows that ... Windows could not open http:\homedrive\home.nl ... etc., as a web folder. Would you like to see its default view instead? [end] I can however do this - at that private site I have two files, one is a Winzip folder. While I can not add a simple txt file to that private folder I _can_ add and extract files to and from that Winzip file. If I did not have that Winzip file already there (before the upgrade) I have no idea how I could have added anything to that private folder. I am still open to suggestions. I really would like to use this folder in a classic drag and drop manner. Thanks, DH "Dave Horne"

With 98, you could use FTP through IE. With IE7, you can't do FTP, you have to use Explorer not Internet Explorer. Depending on the website, you may have an issue with permissions in the private web folder. Do you have a username/password that is required to access the private FTP space? I have a correction to make. I thought I could add files to that WinZip folder at the private area at their ( home.nl) server but I was really just temporarily adding files in my own temp folder. When I would go back to view the WInZip folder online, nothing was in fact added. I can still extract files from that WInZip folder but not add. I am aware of how to access the web site area using IE7. After going to ftp://homedrive.home.nl/ and receiving a message from Windows that I can not view that page, I then click on Page in the IE7 toolbar \ Open ftp site in Windows Explorer \ I then receive yet another message\error and then click on File and then log in. It's quite an ordeal. I can upload files to that area but not to the private area. This is not intuitive ... and I didn't have this issue with Windows 98. I contact home re this issue and they give me information that does not work. I am open to suggestions .... just about any suggestions at this point. "NotMe"

I don't use home so I am not familiar with their authentication procedure. I am guessing that the inability to access the private folder is an authentication problem. I prefer to use an FTP program to transfer files instead of using the (clunky IMHO) IE7/Explorer interface. Have you tried using an FTP program instead of direct uploading through Explorer? Can you recommend an ftp program for me to use? (I can manage to upload files to the ftp web site portion on my 'homedrive' at home.nl however, just not 'private' part.) "NotMe"

I just now checked the web site 'help' from home.nl (in Dutch) and specifically for the privémap (private folder) they mention that you _can not_ access that via a ftp site. I'm in a Catch 22 situation here. I can access my web site by logging in (using IE7, clicking on Page in the toolbar and jumping through several hoops). I can upload to my web site; I can not upload to my private folder (also located in my 'webspace' at home.nl. I've written them several times and am getting nowhere. I'm posting here because I did not have this isse when using Windows 98 and IE6. I am assuming this is an IE7 \ Vista issue. "Plato"

An update. I posted at an home.nl news group and rec'd a reply from another user that this problem does in fact exist. He was given accurate information from home.nl and I was given the run around. No solution, but at least I know they are aware of this .... issue.
