I have several programs which could open video files but when I right click only few of them show up if any, sometimes including programs which can not open video files!! How can I force to show up all programs which could open video files, like XP does? I have Vista Business 32bits program.

Unless a program registers itself as a handler for a file type, you can't force it to show up in the list, though you can force it to take over an extension with "Open With ...". Richard G. Using the Open With and Choose Default Program AND UNTICKING the Always use this program.... checkbox DOES add the program to the list once you use it to open the item in that program and it does not change the default program association i.e. For graphics files I have all six of my graphics programs showing up in the list "Richard G. Harper"

I discovered this by accident... Now if it were easy to REMOVE programs from the Open With list, all would be well in Vistaland!

Thanks for all inputs. I thought there would be easier way to do this. Just imagine how many people are wasting time just to do this. Vista is supposed to be an improvement over XP? So far I'm impressed by Vista only on two points - 1. The computer has not yet frosen although many programs were abruptly terminated! (Rundll32 error message is not much of help!) 2. My old Office 97 suite still works. Cann't wait for SP1 or 2!! Cheers! "Cal Bear '66" wrote:
