So if you don't want to tackle the whole new OS, but wouldn't mind a Vista face lift, are any of these themes out there good ? WindowBlinds is one that's popular ??

I have used this one..
softpedia.com/get/System/OS-Enhancements/Vista-Transformation-Pack.shtml
And yes, it more or less gives you the look.. very comprehensive too..

I tried to install the Vista Transformation Pack once and it didn't install for some reason - it just got stuck in the middle of the process. I was installing it in safe mode as recommended.
I also remember there was a choice as to how to install it - one choice for the install changes your system files and while that gives you a more authentic "Vista look" as a result, you are also warned that it is a "Do-so-at-your-own-risk" situation.
There is the other install option which is safer and it apparently does not directly affect your system files, but you also might not get the most authentic Vista makeover as a result.
Thanks, Frank

Me again,.... I have actually purchased and used Window Blinds fairly successfully. If you go with this option, make sure you disable your Anti-Virus and Spyware programs during the install of Window Blinds.
Also you have a lot of control in the inner settings as to whether a program even gets "skinned" by Window Blinds. So if a program seems to be causing you problems, you can exclude it from being skinned by window blinds etc.
My experience was - that by purchasing this program, I got unlimited downloads from wincustomize.com There are 100's of skins available for free download.
Good Luck, Frank

Search for Vista Visual Styles Pack 6.0 - it has a patcher so it can be applied

to XP, and does an amazing job - I run it a work and on my wife's PC (can't convince her to go to Vista yet!!)
