whenever i try to download things from microsoft it asks me to validate my copy of vista. when i go to the validation page it tells me to click the active X control bar but the bar never appears. i then go to the alternate method at the bottom of the page and when i click on the validate button and it brings up a "internet explorer cannot display this page". i then go to the diagnostic webpage for vista validation and i pass the first 4 steps but i fail 3, which are, "Windows validation ActiveX loaded","Office Validation ActiveX loaded", and "Validation Self-Help ActiveX loaded". when i click the resolve now button it takes me to the "adjust internet explorer security settings for ActiveX control behavior" page. but the activeX does not load so this does not help at all. what do i do????

If the validation spyware won't install correctly, then look around for some other spyware to compromise your system with instead. There's plenty available if you look hard enough. Jon

Try this: Control Panel (Classic View) > Network and Sharing Center. Under Tasks (on the left side of the window), click on "Manage Network Connections". In the new window, right-click on Local Area Connection, and choose Properties. Under "This connection uses the following items", double-click Internet Protocol Version 4. Choose "Use the following DNS Server Addresses" and set the IP Addresses for "Preferred DNS Server" as 4.2.2.2 and for "Alternate DNS Server" as 4.2.2.3.

What anti spyware apps do you have on your computer that prevent activex controls from loading. Some are much more aggressive than others. You may want to check their settings. Spyware Blaster and SpySweeper "may" cause problems, depending upon how you have them configured. For lack of a better idea at this point, you could try using Firefox to download the stuff you want from Microsoft. Firefox uses a plug-in (which you will be prompted to install), versus an ActiveX control. "andrewva84"

I have this exact same problem and am still trying to figure out why this only happened when I tried to validate Windows Vista. I have had to install activeX before on different sites, but never had a problem. It just doesn't pop up when I need to validate Windows Vista. HELP!!!
