You edit the Registry at your own risk!
If you are unsure, leave it alone or get someone to do it for you? Close Windows Mail. Start>Run>type regedit>OK>navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows Mail in the right hand pane>right click a blank area>New>DWORD (pertaining to your version 32 or 64 bit)>type NoSplash>hit enter>right click on the added NoSplash>Modify>give it a value of 1. Exit regedit>open Windows Mail and no splash screen. |

Perfect. Incidentally didn't there used to be a tool in Regedit to take and restore backups of the registry or am I confusing Regedit with an alternative? |

All versions of Regedit allow Export to a file which can be used to restore the registry later. Tom Lake |
