I can recieve most E-Mails, but when I try to send one McAfee screen pops up and says that Internet connection has been lost. Under details it says, E- Mail scanning encountered a problem: This message cannot be sent. After you verify your computer is connected to the Internet, McAfee recomends that you resend this message from your E-Mail program. Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated! Lori

Yes uninstall McAfee.
I have always used AVG Free from Antivirus free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/5390/lng/us/tpl/v5#avg-anti-virus-free
When you install it, so far into the install choose custom install, and remove the checkmark from email scanner. You do not need it.

Mac, The computer (Gateway) is about a month old. It came with McAfee, the problem started only a couple of days ago. The only thing I know different is we moved computer to different location. In McAffee I did find this trail: Wormstopper detected e-mail activity and has tacken the following action: Process: C:\ProgramFiles\Windowsmail\Winmail.exe Process description: Windows Mail Allowed: YES Do you still suggest removal? Lori

It is entirely up to you, you could try to disable the email scan options in

McAfee, but we are seeing more and more messages asking for help with various problems in WM and in many cases McAfee or Norton is installed on their PC.

Dear Lori,
I had this problem with Vista and McAfee (both of which I am learning to hate)!
I fixed it by selecting in McAfee - Computers and Files - then Virus protection then Advanced then "Trusted Lists" then Trusted programs then Trusted Email Programs and then change winmail.exe status from blocked to trusted!
God help us!
