Okay I've read and read about Windows mail. Every body has the same problem I have. I want to use Win Mail as default and it won't let me. I've cut and paste "c:\program files\windows mail\winmail.exe" /reg as required and I've done the default thing. Little by little I will forward about 1-1/2 gigs of hotmail over to my win mail. Seems that this is the only way. How many man hours are being spent by players like me ? Wow seems like a windows fix is in order. I'm about 2 shakes away from formating this drive and going back to XP Pro 64 Did any body yet win mail to default yet?

Control Panel | Default Programs lets you set the default mail program.

As I said in the msg. I've tried that I've tried every thing that has been mention in all the community mail. When I clink Windows Mail in the "Set up Default programs" This new Vista is cheesez with no more boxes to click and on click. I highlight the Set as Default etc. and click Ok...It says "this program has all it's defalts"
Only way I can find out if it's working is to send my self mail. Is it that you cannot receive any mail if it's "Hotmail" ?
I am buying "Office Ultimate Ed. Will that have a new sort of mail in it that will allow me to keep my Hotmail account? And be more like Outlook? Outlook is the only MS product that scores 100% with me and now MS as put it to bed. FunCo

Hotmail is not supported by WinMail, so you have to use another program if you depend upon Hotmail.

I have a Hotmail.co.uk email id that is handled well by Windows Live Mail Desktop and I get the impression that WLMD is Microsofts favoured way forward for mail and probably receives more resources from their research, development and support budgets than Windows Mail.

Yeah, my opinion of it is biased unfavorably for a number of reasons one of which is all the bugs you see people are having with Windows Mail.
