OK I've installed Vista and I like the interface. I've had a few windows products from win 3.1, 95, 98, 98se, me, 2000, XP home prem, Xp media centre now Vista premium. When can I expect programs from other software companies to get up to date - Real arcade, Activision, etc etc. I use my PC as a family PC but so many of my bought software doesn't work that it has become a wordprocessor, internet browser and TV. I want my programs to work or at least be able to download a patch to make them work. I wouldn't mind even buying a new vista version of an XP program. I assume that microsoft does have a technology exchange with software companies. When can I expect a flood of Vista compatible software so that I can assign my XP software to the bin, or am I going to have to re - install XP media centre - partition my hardrive - install Vista again and choose which Op sys. I would like to use?

What you are asking is roughly akin to asking when will broadcast TV stations get up to speed with digital high definition TV. The answer to both questions is, "at the last possible moment".
No one wants to reduce this quarter's bottom line for something that probably won't boost revenue for another two or three quarters. They may even decide not to patch current versions and then make the next version Vista compatible. That way, they squeeze the price of an upgrade out of you.
There is a common misconception that the main purpose of software companies is to produce great software. Their primary purpose is to make money.
