My MS update notify seems to hae quite notifying me. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated. Sam

You can go into the control panel, Windows Updates, in the left pane click Change Settings. In there, you can make sure it's set to download the updates, recommended updates, etc.

MS Update set to auto-notify has worked flawlessly ever since I have used Vista all the way back to 8/06 with RC2. Last week I installed a new MS Laser 6000 mouse and my system stopped going into standby. I searched and searched, tried everything I could think of and finally a very nice person in this newsgroup replied she had the same problem with a screen saver. She gave me the filename, I searched MS and it said to go to updates. Sure enough it was right there with 2 others. I found another one yesterday but I'm not getting any notifications. I could have saved lots of time troubleshooting my new mouse if update had notified me. I can't figure out why it stopped working. Sam
