I am using Windows Vista Mail and discovered that I receive mail from some accounts, but not others. The scary part is that I found out I am not getting mail from my son, stationed in Iraq from a yahoo email account. I also don't receive them from work. I do receive emails from many contacts. I turned junk mail off with no positive affect. Can anybody tell me if I need to set up my account differently to get ALL mail? Thanks, Steve

Your use of the word "accounts" is a bit hazy. Did you mean, you can't receive email from certain email addresses? Or did you mean, of the multiple accounts you have set up in Windows Mail, some are not working? If the latter, do you get an error message? You are right. I meant that I don't receive emails from ALL addresses. I know of 2 email addresses I do not receive emails from. "Steve Spiva" wrote:

I can't receive mail from all addresses. No error messages. I just don't know i I get them. I discovered this problem when I send an email from work and didn't get it at home. My email address is rangerat roadrunner.com and I was using the roadrunner web mail system, but it is not very user friendly, so switched to Vista Windows Mail...same address. The other day I checked the Roadrunner Web Mail and discovered the emails from my Son. I sent them from the web mail to vista and received them. Have I got something set up wrong in Vista that some emails don't end up in the IN box? "Gary VanderMolen" wrote:

Uninstall? Not just disable email scanning?

Probably he means uninstall, especially for McAfee and Norton. Some others will also cause problems even with email scanning turned off. I'm using Avast and so far no problems. Frank Saunders, MS-MVP OE/WM fjsmjs.com Answer in newsgroup. Don't expect an answer to email.

Yes, uninstall, because some antivirus programs continue to disturb WinMail even when you turn off their email scanning. Once the user has email working again, he can install one of the less troublesome AV's, like Avast or AVG. Gary VanderMolen

I have difficulty understanding your issue. Just how did you "send them from the web mail to Vista and received them"? How does one send mail to an operating system? We obviously have a big communications gap here. If you don't receive mail at home, it is either because a) you don't have a proper email account set up in Windows Mail, or b) the account you have set up is checking the wrong mailbox. Yeah, at least just for testing purposes, as that is sometimes the only way to stop what the antivirus stuff does. steve "Otto Normalverbraucher"

Disable first then test, if problems still are present, uninstall. Imo, McAffee should be uninstalled. If Norton and Oem provided, uninstall. For the prior two choose a third party free(Avast) or Kaspersky or Bit Defender(fee). If Norton Nis2007 retail or N360 retail with Vista logo and Live Update has been run until no further updates, disable email scanning inbound and outbound, disable scanning for messenger clients and turn off Office Plugins. ..winston "Otto Normalverbraucher"

It's ok I just didn't see where they mentioned what AV they were using.

Avast and N360 have both worked fine on one pc, Kasperksy stand-alone with Defender and Windows firewall on another.
