I've always used the ability to build a list of heavily-used programs using the start menu "classic view," by placing shortcuts to programs above the "Programs" tree. I've added plenty of items to this list by dropping shortcuts for them on the Vista Start Button. Previously I've been able to drag and drop these items to put them in my preferred order (eg - I prefer having the "New Office Document" shortcut at the very bottom of the list).
In Vista I can drag and drop these items to a new position during a session, but after a reboot they always revert to an alphabetized list. Is there any way to defeat this automated re-sorting of the start menu programs list? Thanks! eb

Hello, Does anyone know how to defeat the auto re-sorting without download the third-party software? It works good on the Wndows XP, no matter which order you arrange it, it will just stay as-is, unlike the Vista, everytime you restart, shut down, log-off and back on it will re-sort by it self, very, very annoyning...
