How do I restart in prompt mode? And once there, what do I do? If someone could be so kind and pleeaaasssee walk me step by step. I'd be so grateful.

Do you mean from a Command Prompt?
If so, just type shutdown.exe /r
Press ENTER.

Your post is unclear. What exactly is it you are trying to do and what is the issue? What do you mean by prompt mode?

seems our mvps have problems reading and understanding english. when the computer starts booting hit the F8 key to eventually get the boot menu. you can then scroll the boot menu to select command prompt mode.
from the problems you are having, needing to convert to NTFS and such, you might consider trying to find a computer club in your area to get assistance. check public library or schools to see if there is one in your area.
its better than being slapped around by the mvps because they do not like your posts.
